187 Natural Gas Emergency

Natural Gas Emergency 187 line should be called when the following conditions happen: 

1. Gas smell in the residence,
2. Gas smell in the indoor/wellhole,
3. Gas smell throughout the street,
4. Gas smell in the service line / box,
5. Natural gas fire and Explosion,
6. Flue gas poisoning,
7. Absence of gas

The matters to be considered for the Natural Gas Emergency 187 Line calls 

1. Explain your notice in a clear language, calmly and do not panic.
2. Provide your name, surname, phone number.
3. Explain or describe the issue clearly
4. Clearly state the address (quarter, avenue and street) of the place of notice.
5. Describe the location of the notice in reference to a known location as much as possible.
6. Natural gas Emergency 187 should only be called in case of emergency.
7. Avoid unnecessary conversations; do not occupy the operator and Emergency 187 line with unnecessary talks.

Natural Gas Emergency 187 teams that provide 24/7 service, go to the stated address and consider the notification as soon as possible and perform intervention.
Natural gas leakage control is carried out by Natural Gas Emergency 187 teams at the address given, if a leakage is found in domestic installation, natural gas service to the subscriber is blocked and s/he is referred to the companies which have received certificate from Başkentgaz, pursuant to the statement in Article 61 of Natural Gas Market Distribution and Customer Services Regulation Third Part (Operational Service Obligations) and Second Part (Emergency Response, Registration and Documentation): "Emergency response services are provided free of charge. However, as a result of urgent intervention, the repair and modification of the domestic installation is under the responsibility of the customer." 

WHEN YOU FEEL A SMELL OF GAS IN YOUR HOUSE

• Do not panic and keep calm.
• Ventilate the place by opening doors and windows.
• Close the counter and device valves
• Do not open your electrical equipment, turn off or unplug the ones that are already open.
• Do not touch switches (do not turn on; turn off if they are open).
• Do not use the phone in the place as it may cause sparks, and do not open it on if it rings.
• Do not use open flame sources such as cigarettes, matches and lighters.
• Call Natural Gas Emergency 187 from a safe place that does not contain gas.
 
WHEN YOU FEEL A SMELL OF GAS IN THE BUILDING AND IN THE BOILER ROOM
 
• Do not panic and keep calm.
• Close the natural gas main inlet valve of the building.
• In order to ventilate the environment, open the building entrance door and all windows opening to the light.
• Do not open your electrical equipment, turn off or unplug the ones that are already open.
• Do not use the phone in the place as it may cause sparks, and do not open it on if it rings.
• Avoid activities that will cause fire and sparks.
• Do not use open flame sources such as cigarettes, matches and lighters.
• Warn the occupants for this issue.
• Do not operate elevators and similar common space devices.
• Call Natural Gas Emergency 187 from a safe location that does not contain natural gas.
 
WHEN YOU FEEL GAS SMELL IN AVENUE / STREET
 
• Don't panic and keep calm
• Warn the people who do not feel the smell around you.
• Close doors and windows of buildings in order to prevent gas from entering the building and warn people.
• Do not use the phone in the place as it may cause sparks, and do not open it on if it rings.
• Do not use open flame sources such as cigarettes, matches and lighters.
• Stop the running cars and, if possible, cut the traffic flow to provide a safe environment.
• Call Natural Gas Emergency 187 from a safe place that does not contain gas.
 
WHEN YOU SEE DAMAGE TO NATURAL GAS EQUIPMENT / PIPES
 
• Don't panic and keep calm
• Do not use the phone in the place as it may cause sparks, and do not open it on if it rings.
• Do not cause fire or sparks.
• Do not use cigarettes, matches-lighters.
• Stop the traffic around the place having damage and secure the area.
• Close doors and windows of buildings in order to prevent gas from entering the building.
• Call Natural Gas Emergency 187 from a safe place that does not contain gas.
• If there is excessive gas output, ensure that the electricity in the area is cut off.
• As a precautionary measure, close your device valves to avoid risk when your gas is cured and re-supplied.
 
IF AN EXCAVATION WORK WILL BE CARRIED OUT OR WHEN YOU SEE AN EXCAVATION WORK
 
• Get necessary permissions from Başkentgaz for excavations.
• Before starting the planned excavation; provide the exact address and time of the excavation work by fax (0312 232 51 93) / e-mail (acil187@baskentdogalgaz.com.tr) trough filling in the Excavation Control and Support Form.
• In case of incidental (unplanned) conditions, you can make a request by calling 187.
• If you suspect unauthorized excavation works, call 187.
